MY PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:

I have been practicing professionally in the mental health field for over thirty years, initially as a Licensed Professional Counselor and since 1990 as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.

My education includes a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany, a Master's Degree in Counseling Education from Syracuse University, and a Master's Degree and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. My additional training includes certification in hypnotherapy and in Gestalt therapy.

Over my extensive professional career, I have accumulated experience in a variety of treatment environments, including psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, and residential facilities. My current practice provides outpatient assessment and treatment services to adolescents, adults, couples, and families. My approach to treatment merges elements of psychodynamic, humanistic, family systems, and cognitive therapies.

In addition, I have been a member of the faculty at the State University of New York at Binghamton, at Virginia Commonwealth University, at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, and at John Tyler Community College. I teach courses in Abnormal Psychology, Lifespan Development, Child Psychology, and Personality Theory.
